Your May 2026 Guide to the Best Events in Raleigh and the Triangle
Festivals, garden parties, Mother's Day plans, and a few hidden gems worth your weekend.
May in Raleigh hits different. The dogwoods are showing off, patios are full again, and every weekend has more on the calendar than you can actually pull off. Which is a good problem to have.
We pulled together every event worth your time this month. Festivals, pop-ups, Mother's Day plans, garden parties, cultural celebrations, and a few hidden gems we think you'll thank us for. Save this one. Send it to the friend who always asks "what should we do this weekend."
These are the best things to do in Raleigh and the Triangle in May 2026.
Festivals and Big-Vibe Events
Got to Be NC Festival
May 15 to 17 | NC State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh
Three days of down-home celebration, North Carolina style. Carnival rides, tractor pulls, animal exhibits, North Carolina food, wine, and beer vendors, and the annual Masonic Carolina Pig Jig. Gate admission and parking are free, with select activities priced individually. All public parking is off Trinity Road.
Hours: Friday 12 to 10 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 10 PM, Sunday 10 AM to 8 PM.
This is one of the largest food-focused festivals in the region and a real taste of what North Carolina actually grows, raises, and makes.
Artsplosure: The Raleigh Arts Festival
May 16 and 17 | Fayetteville Street, Downtown Raleigh
Artsplosure is one of the biggest cultural events of the year in Raleigh, and it earns the title every spring. About 175 juried artists, large-scale installations, two stages of live music, and Carolina Shakespeare performances take over Fayetteville Street for the weekend. Free and open to the public.
Hours: Saturday 11 AM to 7 PM, Sunday 10 AM to 6 PM.
Bring comfortable shoes, plan to wander, and grab a coffee from one of the downtown spots before you go.
Gettin' Piggy With It
May 17 | Raleigh
BBQ and live music in a garden setting. More boutique and curated than the bigger festivals, with a strong Southern lifestyle vibe. The kind of Sunday afternoon that turns into a long one.

NC Sugar Rush and Car Show
May 24 | City Plaza, 443 Fayetteville Street, Downtown Raleigh
Six hours of dessert vendors, exotic and custom cars, a DJ, and live performances in downtown Raleigh. Italian ice, funnel cakes, beignets, mini donuts, Belgian waffles, vegan treats, and even treats for pets. Bring a friend who appreciates both a good donut and a good engine.
Hours: 12 PM to 6 PM. Free to attend.
DREAMFLASH Bubble Fest
May 24 | Raleigh
An immersive, large-scale bubble experience built for families with kids ages 3 to 15. Giant stations, creative play, photo moments, and the kind of thing that fills up a camera roll.
Cultural and Community Events
Vintage Market Days
May 8 to 10 | NC State Fairgrounds, Jim Graham Building, 4285 Trinity Road, Raleigh
A curated, upscale vintage market with 130+ vendors offering antiques, original art, handmade goods, clothing, jewelry, home décor, treats, and more. Plus food trucks across the site. Set aside a few hours. You'll want them.
Hours: 10 AM to 4 PM all three days. Friday is the Early Buying Event ($15), Saturday $10, Sunday $5. Kids under 12 are free, and one ticket gets you re-entry all weekend.

Dix Park Inter-Tribal Pow Wow
May 30 | Harvey Hill, Dix Park, 2105 Umstead Drive, Raleigh

Closed-toe shoes recommended. Worth showing up early and staying for the full afternoon.

Around the World, Raleigh

Presented by The MAKRS Society. Walk through Africa, Asia, South America, and other regional "neighborhoods," each one represented through food, drink, decorations, and crafts. Diverse food trucks, craft vendors, cultural performances, and a celebration of the international communities that make Raleigh what it is.
Hours: 11 AM to 7 PM. Free.
Mother's Day Plans (Handled)
Her Day at Amelia Medspa
May 7 | 5:30 to 7:30 PM | Amelia Medspa Raleigh
An evening of self-care, exclusive shopping, and pampering. The right kind of pre-Mother's Day plan if Mom (or you) prefers a glass of something cold and a curated experience over a crowded brunch.

Atlantic Gardening: Mother's Day Weekend Party
May 9 and 10 | Atlantic Gardening
Saturday from 12 to 3 PM is the main event. Charcuterie from Blue and Brie Co., gourmet slices and minis from Slice Pie Company, live music from Relay Relay, Garden Bar Mimosas, and a yoga in the garden session in the morning from 10 to 11 AM.
Sunday from 12 to 1 PM is the Mother's Day Bouquet Workshop, hosted by Sydney. Build your own arrangement and walk out with something beautiful.
This is one of those weekends that feels distinctly Raleigh. Garden, music, food, and people who care about all three.

Mother's Day Brunch at Level 7
May 10 | Two seatings at 11 AM and 1 PM | 101 Park at North Hills
A chef-curated buffet, a made-to-order omelette station, and a glass of champagne on arrival. The North Hills rooftop view does the rest.
Sunset Social at Level 7
May 16 | 5 to 9 PM | 101 Park at North Hills
Saturday night at North Hills with tastings and swag from Gray Whale Spirits, a live set from DJ Handsome Robb, a permanent jewelry bar from Heir Raleigh from 5 to 7 PM, a floral bouquet bar (while supplies last), and a few unexpected details from Wake County Beeks.
The kind of Saturday that earns its place on the summer reel.
