Confidence in Every Step: Gretta Nance and the Bold Transparency Behind Amelia Aesthetics | Best of Raleigh Ep. 61
This week on The Best of Raleigh, we’re uncovering how transparency, grit, and heart are reshaping the world of aesthetics—one empowered woman at a time.
When it comes to breaking the mold in the aesthetics industry, Gretta Nance has never followed the crowd. As the Director of Brand Strategy at Amelia Aesthetics, Gretta brings over two decades of passion, grit, and radical transparency to a field often shrouded in secrecy and stigma. On this week’s episode of The Best of Raleigh, Gretchen Coley sits down with Gretta to talk about her inspiring 22-year journey—from a surprising start at Central Prison to becoming one of the Triangle’s most influential voices in aesthetic medicine.
What began as a front desk position at what would eventually become Amelia Aesthetics has evolved into something so much more. Gretta has been a driving force in shaping the Amelia brand—one built on trust, education, and empowerment. At a time when plastic surgery was still whispered about, she chose to be loud. Loud in her support of women making empowered choices. Loud in her belief that confidence starts from the inside. And loud in her refusal to hide the reality behind the procedures that change lives.
A Journey Fueled by Passion—and Purpose
Gretta’s path into aesthetics wasn’t conventional. Originally a criminal justice major working at Central Prison, she pivoted after witnessing her sister’s transformational journey through weight loss and plastic surgery. That firsthand experience lit a fire in her—and launched a lifelong mission to help women feel confident in their own skin.
Gretta's open-book approach is part of what makes her such a beloved figure. She’s shown everything from her own mommy makeover to the raw healing process, inviting tens of thousands of women to join her journey on social media. Long before it was popular—or widely accepted—Gretta was leading with vulnerability, honesty, and a deep desire to educate others.
Amelia Aesthetics: Built for—and by—Women
What started as a four-person team in Raleigh has grown into a thriving network of six Amelia Aesthetics locations, with more on the way. Known primarily for their expertise in breast and body procedures, Amelia’s patient-first philosophy has drawn national attention—and it’s no accident. Gretta and her team have intentionally cultivated a practice that feels less like a sterile clinic and more like a space where women are seen, heard, and empowered.
Their signature community, Bustmob, is a free, women-only online group with over 100,000 members sharing their experiences, recovery journeys, and questions. Add to that their robust library of educational content—much of which was filmed during the early days of COVID—and you’ve got a brand that isn’t just riding trends, but setting them.
Looking Ahead: Functional Medicine and Beyond
As Amelia Aesthetics continues to grow, so does its mission. This fall, they’ll be launching Amelia Health, a functional medicine practice focused on helping women feel as good on the inside as they look on the outside. It’s a natural extension of what Amelia has always been about: providing tools, support, and science-backed solutions for women at every stage of life.
With the rise of GLP-1 medications, non-surgical skin tightening, and a renewed interest in regenerative wellness, Gretta and the team are staying at the forefront of what’s next—while never losing sight of their core values: compassion, education, and authenticity.
Redefining Confidence, One Conversation at a Time
Gretta Nance isn’t just a brand strategist—she’s a storyteller, a champion for women, and a living example of what it looks like to lead with heart. Her presence at Amelia Aesthetics has helped redefine not only how women see plastic surgery, but how they see themselves.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like behind the scenes of one of Raleigh’s most respected aesthetic practices—or if you’re looking for inspiration to show up more fully and authentically in your own life—this is an episode you won’t want to miss.
